Både i råttor och människor som dricker bikarbonat upplöst i vatten mellan måltider, verkar dels produktionen av magsyra öka för att smälta nästa måltid. Och dessutom verkar kroppen börja signalera att immunförsvaret inte behöver öka sin inflammationsrespons. Det är som om kroppen förstår att det troligen är mat det handlar om, inte några farliga inkräktande mikrober.
Efter två veckor med bikarbonat skiftade fördelningen av makrofager mer mot de av typen M1 som minskar inflammation, och bort från typ M2, vilka ökar inflammation. Dessutom ökade produktionen av Treg-celler, vilket också kan dämpa inflammation.
På råttor testades bikarbonat vid njurfunktion. Njurarna har svårt att reglera pH med nedsatt njurfunktion, och detta kan avhjälpas något med tillskott av bikarbonat.

That anti-inflammatory shift was sustained for at least four hours in humans and three days in rats.”

Tänk dock på att bikarbonat också kan påverka din matsmältning negativt eftersom det kan göra dig för basisk i magsäcken. Magsäcken måste ju vara sur (Läs och lyssna tidigare, bl.a. på : ) Därför bör du inte överdriva och dessutom ta det så långt från måltid som möjligt.

Man har analyserat vidare data från den internationella studien Q-Symbio som först publicerades 2014 med goda resultat. Efter att forskarna nu specifikt studerat data från de europeiska studiedeltagarna, är resultaten än mer tydliga. Deltagare som tagit Q10 har en signifikant fördel.
“The following secondary endpoints were significantly improved in the CoQ10 group compared with the placebo group: all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, NYHA classification and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). In the European sub-population, when compared to the whole group, there was greater adherence to guideline directed therapy and similar results for short- and long-term endpoints.
